iPhone 3G was launched as planned. Swati, a college student from Gurgaon was reported to own it in the country (officially). Swati was waiting in the queue from 7 PM. There was a good crowd in all the launch spots. But in general Indians feel the pricing is too high for the phone. Currenlty the import duty is very low for 3G handhelds in India and no justification was made by Apple/AirTel/Vodafone upon the pricing of the device.  Advanced bookings were made in quite a good numbers tonight, but we doubt the expected sales of the device might be terribly affected by the cost.

The Canon 7D rumor is back after a gap. This time with fake packaging. There are even rumors stating that there is a UPC for the EOS 7D. But there was supposed to be a book to be released in amazon on handling EOS 5D Mark II, which was forgotten!

Those looking to drop as much coin as they can on HDV gear have always turned to Sony, and the company is back for more with two new high-end 1080p HDV cameras, the $10,500 HVR-S270U (pictured) and the $6,850 HVR-Z7U. Both models feature interchangeable Carl Zeiss lenses, Sony’s 1/3-inch ClearVid CMOS sensor that offers 1.5 lux sensitivity, 24p and 30p modes, and support for recording directly to CompactFlash or an optional hard-disk recording attachment. The miniDV-only HVR-Z7U features HDMI output, while the HVR-270U bumps up to HD- or SD-SDI output and can also take full-size DVCAM tapes. Sony also released $5,540 HVR-M35U HDV deck that accepts both miniDV and full-size tapes, and features a 2.7-inch preview LCD. All this gear is expected to hit in February — just in time for that IMAX happy slapping documentary you’ve been planning.

You know all those 3 megapixel cameraphones out there? Well, they’re about to achieve 8 megapixel ubiquity. Samsung just announced availability of their 8 megapixel CMOS sensor which shares roughly the same 10.5 x 11.5 x 9.4-mm girth of its 3 megapixel cuz. Just make sure you’ve got plenty of light to frame those shots if you’re expecting anything close to a quality image.

Build looks solid, but we are wondering on the usability of the keypad. Price and availability is not yet available.

Information Dell posted on the Federal Communications Commission website has opened the curtains to reveal the Dell XPS One A2010, the company’s upcoming computer-in-a-monitor.

Details are liable to change, but from the looks of it the XPS One A2010 will have an Intel Core 2 Duo, 22 inch LCD with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, support up to 4 GB of RAM, a 300 GB hard drive, and a TV tuner. The machine will be manufactured by Asustek.

As it is, there’s no word on pricing or availability yet, not to mention configuration options. Since the machine has a TV tuner built in and is designed to reduce clutter, we won’t be surprised if the XPS One is marketed for general use in the home as a media center for the family.
