China’s pulling out all the stops to impress the international community for the Beijing Olympics next year. Just take a look at their new “multibillion dollar” airport terminal that’s currently under construction. Set to open before the games kick off next year, the gigantic über-airport will have a whopping 245 acres of floor space designed to handle the traffic of 53 million passengers a year. It’s super-efficient, using “southeast-orientated skylights, which maximize heat gain from the early morning sun, and an integrated environment-control system that minimizes energy consumption and carbon emissions.” Also, it happens to look like a gigantic crazy spaceship, which is pretty fun. The only problem is that you need to travel to China to visit it. Oh well!
